Wandern in Ramsau am Dachstein

Experience the mountain summer

Ramsau am Dachstein is the summer-holiday destination in Styria. The alpine climate with the most hours of sunshine in Styria make for a distinct climatic spa. It is its infrastructure, its alpine pastures, its culinary treats at mountain huts and restaurants, and the Dachstein glacier that make our holiday region stand out. At Hotel Berghof hiking and mountain bike trails are on your doorstep, and you can start your tour up to the summits of the Dachstein massif. Enjoy!

Via ferrata

Ramsau am Dachstein is the cradle of via ferratas. From Ramsau am Dachstein, there are 19 secured climbing paths accessible, amongst them the world’s oldest one (Randkluft up to Dachstein), the super-ferrata (combining the three paths Anna, Johann, and Schulter up to Dachstein) with 1,200 metres of difference in altitude, and the children’s via ferratas Kali, Kala, and Kalo.

Hiking, walking, trail running

200 km of walking trails await you in Ramsau am Dachstein. Easy-going walks along the plateau, hikes in the alpine regions, pilgrimage trails, themed walks, and high-alpine paths from 1,000 metres to 2,900 metres.

MTB, E-MTB

The region has 17 well-signposted cycle routes, perfect for half-day tours to a three-day tour around the Dachstein. There are also routes for the e-bike, downhill trails, single trails, and bump trails.
Rent a bike at Intersport Bachler at a discounted rate with the Berghof Card.

The Dachstein

The Dachstein has the Alps’ easternmost glacier, which is a great place to visit, offering a breathtaking suspension bridge, the Stairway to Nothingness, a viewing platform, and the ice palace. Also, the glacier is a starting point for high-alpine hikes. In summer, too, there is alpine skiing and cross-country skiing.

Rittisberg Leisure Park

Summer tobogganing, summit coaster, swimming lake with beach volleyball, high-ropes courses, archery, Segway tours, fairytale trail.

Paragliding

Year-round paragliding with popular starting points Stoderzinken, Planai, Rittisberg, and Dachstein. Paragliding school and tandem flights locally.

Winterwandern am Dachstein

Winter magic in white

There is only one Austrian holiday region that really has it all: Ramsau am Dachstein in Schladming-Dachstein. It’s a winter wonderland with over 200 km of cross-country tracks, more than 123 km of world-champion level ski runs around Schladming’s Planai, and breathtaking panoramic views as well as adventures on the Dachstein glacier. The groomed winter-walking trails take you to Ramsau’s magic winter wonderland right from the hotel. Explore the snow-covered countryside of the Alm region during a snowshoe hike or ski off piste around the cliffs of the Dachstein mountains. Or relax on a lovely mellow ski tour – come and talk to us, we are happy to tell you everything about them. We and our local staff also occasionally enjoy the great outdoors, we might have a tip or two for you.

Cross-country skiing and skating

Ramsau am Dachstein is Austria’s cross-country eldorado, with up to 150 km of classic cross-country tracks, skating trails, skiletics park, children’s cross-country park, ski schools and rental places. Also, Ramsau hosts the Nordic Combined World Cup once a year, with two annual competitions. In 1999, Ramsau was even the host of the Nordic World Ski Championships.

Ski and snowboard

The four interlinked ski mountains are part of Ski amadé. Ski on 700 km of ski runs with one ski ticket. Ramsau’s easy-going ski area with the Rittisberg and the Dachstein glacier is also in Ski amadé. With a valid ski ticket, you can also take the ski bus to the region’s ski resorts, Planai, Hauser Kaibling, Reiteralm, Rittisberg and Dachstein free.

Fatbike in Winter

Fatbikes have ideal tyres to carve along Ramsau’s groomed tracks even in winter. Book your rental bike and a guided tour at reception.

Winter walking

Enjoy our 70 km of special winter walking trails. About 30 huts, farm houses, and alms welcome you along these trails.

Ski tours, snowshoeing

Dachstein and its foothills are ideal for ski touring. From Austria’s national ski tour no. 1 (glacier crossing to Obertraun) to snowshoe hikes across the Alm region, there are hundreds of possibilities in the great outdoors.

Further activities

A horse-drawn sleigh ride across the Ramsau plateau with a stop at one of the cosy huts is a must when visiting here. Tobogganing down the groomed ski trail or even night tobogganing on the Rittisberg are also great options. You’re in for some fun at the zipfelbob-run (one-person bob) by the Drachenlift in Ramsau Vorberg. And there is ice skating and ice hockey at the Kobaldhof. If you choose to go for a freeride run, please book a tour guide, never cruise down the steep Dachstein slopes on your own.
